You're Going To Make It
On August 23rd we met in-person at Kona Reserve Coffee house for a very intimate and
transformative gathering as we closed out the book that we had been discussing for the past few weeks. As we completed reading Good Boundaries and Goodbyes by Lysa Terkeurst we were reminded that with the information that we have gained and the new boundaries that we are implementing that we will be ok.
Every relationship may not end the way we want, but we will be ok. A passage from chapter 12 of Good Boundaries & Goodbyes that reminds us that we will be ok:
"You aren't the same unsure and vulnerable girl today that you were 10 years ago. You've allowed what you've faced to strengthen you instead of weaken you. You are wiser. You are more discerning. You are more assured of how to stay close to God."
During our meeting, different members gave key takeaways from the book that stood out to them and that they will implement into their daily lives. Some of the takeaways include:
Boundaries aren't just a good thing they are a God thing
When set appropriately and kept consistently, boundaries really do serve to help keep us safe and our relationships healthy.
Health cannot bond with unhealth
God's love is unconditional but access to Him is not
Access should equal the level of responsibility they are capable of
people who are irresponsible with our hearts should not be granted great access to our hearts
We've got to know who we are, so we don't lose ourselves in the fractured realities of others.
Activity
after now understanding that boundaries are a God thing and are intended to keep us healthy and at our best, we had a funeral, well we had 2 funerals.
we wrote eulogies to an old relationship or situation that we had been holding on to
we also wrote a eulogy to our old selves, the version of ourselves that didn't have boundaries, that didn't know our worth, and that was a people pleaser.
Conclusion
We learned that boundaries help us to have a forward vision, boundaries keep us on track to the Promised Land. That we should not allow anyone's actions or manipulation to cause us to be stuck or to miss out on the Promised Land.
Another key takeaway
We must set boundaries but we must also respect the boundaries that others have set.
